BYD Battery Box Premium HVM+/HVS+/HVB Battery Base and Control Unit

The BYD Battery Box Premium HVM+/HVS+/HVB Battery Base and Control Unit is the “brains and backbone” of every BYD high-voltage tower, combining the mechanical base, core battery management system (BMS) and communication interfaces in a single, installer-friendly unit. One BCU + Base is required per tower, and it is compatible across the HVM+, HVS+ and HVB product families you’re already using.

Sitting at the bottom of the stack, the Base provides a stable, floor-standing platform for the battery modules, with integrated guide rails and fixings that make it easy to build towers safely and consistently on site. The Control Unit (BCU) mounted above it houses the central BMS, system intelligence and communication hardware. Together, they coordinate charge/discharge behaviour across all connected modules, manage cell balancing, and enforce all of BYD’s safety limits for voltage, current and temperature.

Because the same BCU + Base platform is used across HVM+, HVS+ and HVB, installers can standardise on a single architecture for residential and light-commercial jobs. Whether you’re building a compact HVS+ system, a larger HVM+ tower, or a higher-power HVB bank, the BCU + Base automatically recognises the connected stack and operates it within the correct electrical and thermal envelopes defined in the relevant datasheets. This helps ensure consistent performance, high round-trip efficiency and long cycle life across the whole Premium HV portfolio.

From an installation point of view, the unit is designed to keep wiring and commissioning simple. High-voltage and communication connections are clearly separated, and BYD’s internal plug-together design for the battery modules means most interconnections happen automatically as you stack the tower. The BCU then provides the interface to the compatible hybrid or battery inverter and to external monitoring/diagnostics tools, supporting functions such as remote fault analysis and firmware updates where enabled.
