- Manufacturer SolarEdge Technologies
Designed for short-string residential roofs, the SolarEdge S650A Power Optimizers are ideal for small-scale systems on complex roofs with multiple orientations - enabling strings as short as ten modules without sacrificing efficiency or safety.
With an efficiency of 99.5%, the S650A Power Optimizers maximise the energy yield from each solar panel by mitigating diverse types of module mismatch loss from manufacturing tolerances to shading; facilitate module-level monitoring and enable advanced safety features that surpass industry standards.
These Power Optimizers are compatible with the SolarEdge Home Wave and Home Hub Three Phase inverters, specifically:
SolarEdge Home Wave Inverter – Three Phase (SExxK-RW0TEBxN4) from firmware version 4.23.XX and above, for inverters produced after WW42/2020.
SolarEdge Home Hub Inverter – Three Phase (SExxK-RWB48BFN4) from firmware version 4.23.XX and above.
The Power Optimizers have a rated input DC power of 650W making them compatible with a wide range of modules including high-powered and bifacial modules (the rated power of the module at STC must not exceed the Power Optimizer rated input. Modules with up to +5% power tolerance are allowed).
Note: The S650A Power Optimizer cannot be mixed with any other type of Power Optimizer on the same inverter.
Key performance advantages
String length (Power Optimizers) - 10-38
Support High-powered modules – 650Wp input power, 15A Isc. and an input voltage of 80V.
Built-in safety technology
SafeDC™ rapid shutdown – each SolarEdge S650A Power Optimizer reduces its output to around 1V when the inverter or AC supply is off, safeguarding installers and first-responders.
S-Series Sense Connect arc prevention – patented technology that identifies abnormal thermal events in the Power Optimizer connector to prevent electric arcs from forming*. By stopping the power flow, the inverter switches the system to safe mode and reduces the voltage; the faulty connector location is visible in the system layout on the Monitoring Platform and an event notification is sent via SetApp and the SolarEdge Monitoring Platform.
100% system visibility enabled with module-level monitoring
Faster installation with simplified cable management, accessible connectors and straightforward assembly using a single bolt.
Flexible PV system design for maximum utilisation of roof space.
Full standards compliance – IEC 62109-1/-2, VDE-AR-E 2100-712 fire safety, FCC Class B EMC, and UL 1741 listing meet global code requirements.
*Function requires compatible SolarEdge inverter firmware.
