The SolarEdge Smart Energy Hot Water controller is a wall-mounted hot water control unit for using surplus PV generation to heat water. This 5.0 kW variant controls purely resistive loads and is intended for solar PV self-consumption applications.
Controls resistive heating loads up to 5.0 kW with a maximum load current rating of 22 A.
Adjusts power supplied to the heater based on available PV power to store excess solar energy as hot water.
Specified efficiency is greater than 98%.
Wall-mounted IP65 enclosure
Uses ZigBee Home Automation communication and can be configured via the inverter LCD, monitoring platform/app, or SetApp; Ethernet connection is required.
Single-phase hot water controller for 230 Vac nominal operation, with an operating range of 205-264 Vac at 50 Hz. Maximum supported load is 5.0 kW with 22 A load current rating and external over-current protective device rating of 25 A or greater. Load type is resistive only. Communication is via ZigBee Home Automation. Dimensions are 375 x 240 x 110 mm, weight 5.3 kg, and operating temperature range is -10 to +50°C.
Wall mount installation. Ethernet connection is required for device configuration. Suitable for purely resistive loads only. External temperature sensor is optional and ordered separately.
Efficiency is specified as greater than 98%. The controller is intended to increase PV self-consumption by diverting surplus generation into water heating.
